3.8) THE DUTIES OF THE DECC PROJECT OFFICER

The role of the DECC Project Officer is to represent the DECC's interests in the BCURA/DECC joint funding programme.

All proposals received by the Technical Officer are forwarded to the DECC Project Officer in order for DECC to comment on their suitability for the DECC's Carbon Abatement Technolgies Strategy and identify any other complementary projects in the DECC portfolio.

The DECC Project Officer attends meetings of the Research Panel, the Industrial Panel and the BCURA Council, so that the DECC is fully involved with project selection and approval. Any changes in the project, either contractual or technical, are communicated to the DECC Project Officer by the Technical Officer for DECC approval, through the Research Panel.

The DECC Project Officer is responsible for all DECC publications connected to the projects, such as project Profiles and Summaries. The DECC Project Officer liaises with the researchers on the technical accuracy of these publications. An DECC Contractor's report may also be published from these projects, at the discretion of the DECC Project Officer.

The DECC Project Officer is also active in the technology transfer aspect of these projects. This may involve informing relevant industrial representatives of the findings of these projects, acting as liaison between the projects and international programmes, such as IEA Implementing Agreements, or other institutions, such as British Standards Institute.
